My Story
My name is Agostina, originally from Argentina, and since 2022, I have been living in Dubai.
My journey with Ashtanga Yoga began six years ago during a challenging period of my life. From the moment I stepped onto the mat, something within me shifted. A few months into my practice, I embarked on a transformative four-month journey through northern India, where I deepened my connection to yoga and experienced its essence on a profound level. Since then, Ashtanga has been my unwavering companion—a way of life rather than just a practice.
In 2018, I formally began my studies at AshtangaBaires in Argentina. The first year laid the foundational principles of yoga, while the second year of my teacher training led me to complete my 200-hour certification. By the third year, I had earned my 500-hour certification through Yoga Alliance International. Feeling ready to share my passion, I founded my own yoga studio, where I taught Ashtanga and Vinyasa classes.
Upon moving to Dubai, I continued my Mysore practice under the guidance of KPJAYI Authorized Level 2 Ashtanga teacher Nathalie Daou. Over time, I was honored to become one of her assistants. Today, I teach the morning Mysore classes at her studio, The Shala Dubai, located within Zoga Studio in Dubai Internet City.
For me, the true essence of Ashtanga lies beyond the physical postures. While asanas are an essential limb of the eightfold path, I have come to understand that yoga transcends the body—it is a journey inward, a recognition of our eternal light, our purusha. Ashtanga is a lifelong path, one of continuous growth—physically, mentally, and spiritually. This practice has profoundly transformed my life, and for that, I am endlessly grateful.
Teaching has always felt like an innate calling, a privilege that fills me with immense joy. Guiding others on their path and witnessing their evolution is one of the greatest honors. Yoga has given me purpose, and sharing this knowledge is my way of giving back.
Recently, I fulfilled a long-cherished dream: traveling to Mysore for the first time to practice under Sharath Jois. However, with his sudden passing, my plans took an unexpected turn. Rather than cancel my trip, I chose to study under his mother, Saraswati Jois. What unfolded was one of the most profound and transformative experiences of my life.
Stepping into the old shala, I felt an indescribable energy—one shaped by decades of devotion, discipline, and love for the practice. Every corner of that sacred space carried the weight of tradition, and practicing under Saraswati’s guidance was both humbling and deeply inspiring.
Beyond the practice, Mysore itself captured my heart. The rhythm of the city, the serenity of the early mornings, the warmth of the people, and the simplicity of life there created a sense of stillness amidst movement. It was a homecoming—not just to a physical place, but to a deeper connection with the practice and myself.
This journey was only the beginning. Mysore has become a part of me, and I know that my exploration of this sacred path is far from over.
